The Florida Keys sit atop the third-largest barrier reef in the world. Islamorada is perfectly positioned to access some of the most stunning underwater scenery in the US. Here are the top snorkeling spots — most reachable directly from Robbie's Marina.
Cheeca Rocks
Depth: 6–15 ft
A shallow, protected patch reef just offshore. Teeming with tropical fish, coral formations, and easy to access from Robbie's snorkel boats.
Alligator Reef Lighthouse
Depth: 6–100 ft
One of the most famous reefs in the Keys. The coral heads rise to just 3 feet below the surface. Also excellent for diving.
Caloosa Rocks
Depth: 10–25 ft
A beautiful patch reef visited on the Transparensea glass bottom boat tours. Great fish diversity.
San Pedro Underwater Archaeological Preserve
Depth: 18 ft
A 287-year-old Spanish galleon within 1 mile of Robbie's. Cannons, ballast stones, and historic timbers still visible.
Indian Key Historic State Park
Depth: 5–15 ft
A 20-minute kayak paddle from Robbie's. Snorkel the island perimeter and explore the historic wrecking colony on land.
Hens & Chickens Reef
Depth: 5–20 ft
One of Islamorada's oldest established reefs. A great beginner reef with diverse marine life and easy conditions.
