Planning a trip to the Florida Keys and trying to decide between snorkeling and SNUBA? Both are incredible ways to explore the underwater world — but they offer very different experiences.
What is Snorkeling?
Snorkeling is a surface-level activity. Using just a mask, snorkel tube, and fins, you float on the water's surface and observe the marine life below. It's perfect for beginners, families, and anyone who wants a relaxed, gear-free underwater experience. No training required.
At Robbie's, snorkeling trips run daily at 10am and 1:30pm aboard The Blue by Sundance Watersports. Gear is included. Duration: 2.5 hours. Rates start at $55 for kids, $65 for adults.
What is SNUBA?
SNUBA is the step between snorkeling and scuba diving. A long air hose connects you to a floating tank on the surface — allowing you to dive deeper (up to 20 feet) without needing scuba certification or carrying tanks on your back.
You breathe normally through a regulator, just like in scuba, but the tank stays up top. SNUBA at Robbie's is guided — an experienced instructor goes with you every step of the way.
